A magnet inspired by an Iznik dish, a Museum of Islamic Art collection. Carnations and tulips dominate the composition of the dish produced by the potters of Iznik in early Ottoman Turkey (c. 982-9830 AH/157580 CE). Flowers were a popular subject for Iznik pottery, recalling the Ottoman enthusiasm for gardening and flower cultivation. Although constrained artificially within the circle, the carnation flowers are depicted with naturalism and attention to detail.
