A hardcover notebook inspired by the painting "An old man and his pupil in a landscape" (Mughal period, 10th-11th century AH/16th-17th century CE), a page from the Jahangir Album, a Museum of Islamic Art collection. The painting was originally produced in Iran in the late 9th century AH/15th century CE and eventually travelled to India where it was mounted in an album prepared for the Mughal emperor Jahangir. Works by renowned masters were particularly valued among royal patrons and when loose folios they were preserved in albums (muraqqa‘) containing a well-arranged variety of artworks, from calligraphy specimens to single illustrations and folios from dispersed manuscripts.
