This handmade dish is inspired by Iznik spiral motifs and is produced in the famous Ottoman workshops at Iznik. Its spiral decoration (tugrake) echoes imperial calligraphic signatures (tughras) reflecting new tastes at court. Its distinct Italianate shape (tondino) recalls the intense diplomatic and commercial exchanges that Turkey entertained with Venice in the 10th century AH (16th century CE).
