Museum of Islamic Art Coasters - Emperor Shah Jahan on the Peacock Throne (Set of 4)

A set of four Coasters inspired by the painting of Emperor Shah Jahan (r. 1037-68 AH/1628-58 CE) on the Peacock Throne, from the royal album of Shah Jahan, painted and illuminated in Govardhan, India. This Islamic art is housed at the Museum of Islamic Art. The portrait depicts the fifth Mughal ruler seated on the Peacock Throne which he commissioned on the first day of his reign, 28 Jumada I (c. 1037 AH/4 February 1628 CE). The throne was made of enameled gold and inlaid with several hundred diamonds and precious stones and placed in the audience hall of the emperor's palace in Delhi. The Peacock Throne has long disappeared; its existence is only known through archival references and illustrations. Dimension: 10 cm x 10 cm Material: Ceramic and Corkboard
