A mug inspired by the "Lid of Pyxis" (octagonal box), a part of the Museum of Islamic Art collection from Spain Nasrid period, 8th century AH (14th century CE). Metalwork from this period is extremely rare. The pyxis is covered with a fine eight-pointed star patterns engraved on the copper and inlaid with silver, enclosing vegetal and geometric motifs. Destined to hold fragrances or cosmetics, it was probably for a member of the elite or as a royal gift.
