Maryam Al Homaid

Maryam Al Homaid

Maryam Al-Homaid is an Emirati-Qatari interdisciplinary artist and designer who uses weaving and digital design to reflect the evolving social and architectural landscape of Doha. Her tapestries Souq Waqif (2021), Qatar Cities (2021) and El Rayyan (2022), combine architectural elements and historic landmarks with modern patterns and futuristic motifs. Al Homaid has exhibited locally and internationally, appearing at Maison&Objet in Paris (2020), Milan Design Week (2024), and the inaugural Design Doha biennial (2024), as well as participating in artist residencies at Doha’s Fire Station (2015-2016; 2016-2017). Her public art collaboration Keys to Memories (2025), created with Boo Design Studio, installed outside Lusail Metro Station, commemorates the shared spirit of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup by transforming fans’ keychains into a lasting, celebratory artwork. As an educator and artist, Al Homaid nurtures conversations between artisan practice and emerging design technologies, embracing the evolution of cultural memory rather than nostalgia.
