This two-volumes publication details findings from the French archaeological mission to Qatar. In volume one of two, scholarly essays by eight researchers that joined the mission from 1976 to 1978 are presented. The second volume meanwhile provides material on the prehistorical cultures active in the Qatar peninsula based on field research from 1978 to 1982. Both volumes include original photography, maps, technical sketches and archaeological illustrations. Following on the heels of the Danish archaeological expedition between 1956 and 1965, the French mission intensified the efforts to bring to light some of the most fundamental facts of Qatar’s prehistoric cultures.
