A magnet inspired by a folio from the Jahangir Album, a Museum of Islamic Art collection. The folio once belonged to a magnificent album made for the Mughal Emperor Jahangir (c. 1008-1027 AH/1600-1618 CE). The painting, now heavily repainted, probably illustrated a copy of the Persian poem Guy va Chaugan (Ball and Mallet), a mystical poem in which the relationship between lover and beloved is represented by the game of polo. The artefact is illustrated from ink, opaque watercolour and gold on paper.
Dimension: 50 mm x 70 mm
Material: Acrylic
