India 1605-27 AD This picture come from an album assembled for the great mughal ruler Jahangir, who ruled from 1605-1627. Within it, he collected miniatures and calligraphy by the greatest artists of the day, both Muslim and Hindu. Here the viewer is presented with four highly realistic portraits of Mughal courtiers, surrounded by a border of leaves and birds.
